COLOMBO: A state-owned company bus veered off the road and plunged down the mountainside in Bandarawela town, 200 km away from Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo, killing at least 10 persons and injuring 18 others, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred Monday night when the bus was traveling along a mountain road in the central hill town of Bandarawela when it veered off the road and fell down a 350-foot precipice, police said.
Police said that the dead included five women and five men, while the 18 injured included the driver and the conductor. Police added that they had started investigation to find the cause of the crash.
