PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education on Tuesday said the appointment of 15,000 teachers would be completed by December 2016, while 10,000 more to be appointed by next year.

In a higher level meeting presided by provincial education minister Atif Khan, the officials of Education Department told Rs. 17 billion have spent to provide basis facilities at all government schools and Rs six billion have also released.

It was informed that play areas to be construed in 10,000 government schools across the province this year at a cost of Rs 905 million, out of which Rs 205 million have already released.

The meeting was told that work on 36 schools under Standardized Schools Project is underway and five more schools would soon become part of the project.

The Minister on the occasion directed education department to complete all the projects within stipulated time and refrain from unnecessary delay.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Education Dr Shezad Bangesh, Special Secretary Qaiser Alam, Additional Secretary Shahid Sohail and Director Schools Rafiq Khattak.

The meeting also discussed provision of furniture to schools, setting up of IT laboratories, provision of sports facilities, conditional grant, play areas, establishment of girls’ cadet college, Smart Schools, Standardized Schools, Teachers’ Training in collaboration with British Council and other missing facilities at government schools.

Private Schools Regulatory Authority and School Based Recruitment Draft bill were also discussed during the meeting and various important decisions were taken.
