ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday assured the joint sitting of the Parliament that all show cause notices issued to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees would be withdrawn in 24 hours.
He said that amendments to Pakistan International Airlines Corporation into a public limited company were made with consensus and would be moved jointly for approval.
Ishaq Dar said that all cases against PIA employees at administrative stage would be withdrawn.
Speaking at the joint session of the parliament, he said that consensus had been reached after holding talks with parliamentarians of Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, over cases of PIA employees.
Addressing the chair of Speaker, he said that cases of show-cause notices, dismissals and transfers would be withdrawn as per consensus with the opposition parliamentarians.
He said criminal allegations and criminal statements of PIA managements, government functionaries and pubic should be withdrawn by complainants as per due process of law.
Earlier, the joint session of the parliament witnessed a lengthy debate between opposition and treasury benches over either to hold debate on Panama leaks or to take up legislative business.
Senator Aitzaz Ahsan insisted that instead of legislative business, the joint session should hold debate on important national issue in the wake of Panama leaks.
While, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that legislative business of joint session was very important, therefore, it should be taken today.
