LAHORE, Pakistan: Provincial Minister for Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said efforts are being made to introduce Chinese culture and heritage in Pakistan and Chinese art contests are being arranged for youngsters to develop understanding of Chinese culture and traditions.
She was speaking at a posters competition “Pak-China Friendship” arranged by Punjab Information and Culture Department and Punjab Council of the Arts at Lawrence Garden open air theatre on Tuesday.
The minister said Pak-China friendship is deep-rooted and time tested while art and culture of China is enriched and there is a need of introducing it to the Pakistani nation so that bonds of friendship between the two countries could further be strengthened.
She said cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of education, science, research and economy is commendable. She mentioned exchange of art and culture of Pakistan and China will result in highlighting the cultural heritage of both the countries.
The minister besides awarding prizes to the position-holders in the competition also gave special prizes to 25 boy and girl students for their encouragement.
Parliamentary Secretary Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad, Additional Secretary Information and Culture Shahid Iqbal, Executive Director Punjab Council of the Arts Ch. Muhammad Asif and a large number of teachers, students and people from different walks of life were present on the occasion.
