QUETTA, Pakistan: At least 11 people have reportedly been killed so far while dozens of others have gone missing when flash floods and torrential rains hit the Balochistan’s Khuzdar district.
The sources said that 22 people were swept away by flash floods in the Wadh Sarona area of Khuzdar.
The Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar said that the dead bodies have been recovered and rescue operation is underway to recover the missing persons.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Quetta presided over by the Provincial Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattha to review arrangements to deal with the possible floods during the upcoming monsoon season in Balochistan.
The Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Tahir Minhas briefed the meeting that all possible measures have been taken to meet any eventuality.
The meeting was also attended by the Senior Member Board of Revenue Qamar Masood, provincial secretaries and officials of the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities.
