ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was told that as many as 114,715 persons with disabilities from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are being provided with Qaumi Sehat Card under the current implementation of Universal Health Insurance.

Apprising the House on Tuesday in a written reply, the Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination told that Sehat Sahulat Program is a social health protection initiative of federal and participating provincial/regional governments through which free of cost, indoor treatment is given through Qaumi Sehat Card.

So far following number of families are covered under health card in the below mentioned areas:

  1. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa – 7,647,119
  2. Punjab – 13,763,960
  3. Ex-FATA – 1,208,011
  4. Sindh (District Tharparkar only) – 313,436
  5. Balochistan (Under process by the provincial government)

To a question, the minister told the House that the government of Pakistan has been offering routine immunization (RI) services through Expanded Program on Immunization since almost four decades.

The minister told that the program provides free of cost vaccination to 7.2 million children of 0-11 months of age annually, across the Country through fixed sites, outreach and mobile services, thus protecting them against 12 Vaccine preventable diseases.

Furthermore, the minister told that the Burn Care Center at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad is a 20 bedded state of the art burn facility, catering patients from Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab free of cost.
