ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government is spending Rs 81.59 billion to execute different projects in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and Federally administered areas during this year.

In this regard, the government has earmarked the amount in current Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). Of the total, an amount of Rs 42 billion was block allocation while Rs 39.59 allocation was made for projects.

A data issued by Planning and Development Division has showed on Monday that during current fiscal year, an amount of Rs 1.426 billion has been allocated in PSDP for ICT, Rs 25.883 billion for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Rs 26.347 billion for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Rs 27.934 for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to execute development projects.

Each year the federal government provides block allocations to Federally Administered Areas. Against block allocations, the Special Areas (FATA, AJK and GB) formulate their respective Annual Development Programmes.

Federal Ministries/Divisions also undertake development projects in these Special Areas as per assigned rules of business.

The projects include water and power, road, health, education/higher education, population welfare etc.

The data said in addition, Rs 100 billion have been allocated in PSDP 2016-17 as special development programme for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of FATA and Security Enhancement.
