ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Completion of ongoing development projects and launching of new mega public welfare projects is among the top priorities of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

In future those projects would be preferred which would not only help enhance development activities in the city but will directly facilitate its residents.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz said while inspecting the ongoing development work on the service roads of Sector E-11.

He said that MCI and CDA would jointly work for the future development and beautification of the city so that Islamabad could be made most beautiful and modern metropolis of the world.

He said in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the elected representatives will play their effective role in future development of the city and making Islamabad a model city.

Mayor was apprised that development work in Sector D-12 is in final stages, while construction work on dualization of both service roads (East and North) in Sector E-11 is in progress.

He was informed that construction work on both the service roads leading to Sector D-12 was initiated four (04) months ago. He was informed that the estimated cost for the construction of roads was Rs.249.00 million but construction work would be completed at the cost of Rs.178.00 million as the tender was awarded 28 percent less than the NIT cost.

He was briefed that total length of the dualized service roads is more than four (04) kilometers, while the second lane of the service road is 24 feet wide.

Initially, the service roads were consisted on single lane, however, keeping in view the increasing traffic burden and rapid construction activities in Sector D-12, both the service roads are being dualized. He was informed that the project would be completed within given time frame.

Mayor was further informed that funds amounting to Rs.75.00 million were allocated during the previous financial year while the remaining funds would be utilized from the allocated budget of current financial year.

He directed Member Engineering to complete the project within due time with no compromise over quality and standard of the work. He also directed Environment Wing for plantation of trees and colourful flowers on both sides of the service roads and carryout landscaping of median strips between roads.
