PESHAWAR, Pakistan: At least 15 militants including foreigners were killed while several others injured in aerial strikes carried out by the security forces in various areas of Khyber agency’s Tirah valley on Tuesday.
The security sources said that five hideouts of the militants were destroyed in the strikes.
The air strikes were part of the operation Khyber-I in the Khyber agency launched in October last year amidst a full-fledged military operation Zarb-e-Azb going on in the North Waziristan tribal region since June 15, 2014.
Mine blast kills two in North Waziristan
In a mine explosion in Shaktoi area of the North Waziristan tribal region on Tuesday, at least two persons were killed and three others injured, according to political administration of the agency.
The political administration said that those killed included tribal elder Noor Rehman Mehsud and his son Hakeemullah.
Blast leaves two dead in South Waziristan’s Ladha Tehsil
Separately, at least two persons lost their lives and three others sustained wounds in a landmine blast in South Waziristan’s Ladha Tehsil on Tuesday.
The blast took place in Shaknoi area of Ladha Tehsil.
