Social1,738 teachers’ posts vacant in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As many as 1,738 posts of teachers are lying vacant at Government Schools in Punjab’s Rawalpindi District, it has been learnt.

As per a report published by Daily Express on Wednesday, 1,738 teachers’ posts have been found vacant in Rawalpindi Schools administered by the Punjab government.

The report also said that in Rawalpindi, 250 Schools are working without permanent headmasters and headmistresses, and interim headmasters are performing their duties in the absence of permanently posted institutional heads.

As per the directive of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), a ban has been imposed in the Punjab Education Department; therefore, no new recruitments are expected in the State-run Schools in Punjab by the end of 2018.

It is worth mentioning here that the ECP, in a bid to ensure transparency in holding of general elections 2018, on April 11 had made it clear that there would be complete ban on new appointments in any federal, provincial or district department.

However, according to the ECP, the appointments that fall under the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) and the Provincial Public Service Commission (PPSC) would be exempted from the imposed ban.
