ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was assured on Friday that neither 18th amendment in the Constitution was being rolled back nor any amendment being made to it.

While responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Senators Sassui Palijo and Mian Raza Rabbani about the Cabinet Division letter bearing subject “Transfer back of Institutions/functions”, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said there were some adjustments at the federal level and it was pertaining to it.

The minister said 18th amendment was passed unanimously by both the Houses – the National Assembly and the Senate – and all political parties played their due role in it.

Sheikh Aftab said the amendment was passed after thorough discussion and deliberation and the government has no intention to bring any change to it.

The minister informed the Upper House that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was earlier under the Cabinet Division but later it was handed over to the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD).

Similarly, he added, the National College of Arts was transferred to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
