PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Four militants were killed in an overnight clash with the security forces in North Waziristan, a mountainous tribal region in northwest Pakistan.
In a statement, the military said that the casualties took place in the Gharlamai area of the North Waziristan tribal region late Sunday during an exchange of fire which erupted when the security forces were conducting a clearance operation.
The military said that two personnel of the Pakistan’s army also embraced shahadat in the exchange of fire with militants.
The Pakistan’s army has been carrying out a full-fledged military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militants in the North Waziristan tribal region since June 15.
Meanwhile, a volunteer of Tauheedul Islam (TI) peace committee was killed and two others sustained injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) blast occurred in Tirah valley of Khyber agency, another tribal region where the Pakistan’s army is involved in the fight against the militants.
