ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that 20 politicians including the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have serious life threats.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Monday, the minister said that some of these politicians have already survived life attempts in the past.
The interior minister said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been conveyed of the threat. He also appealed to the JUI-F Chief not to engage in a game which may eventually turn out to be detrimental for himself.
Sheikh Rashid said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is declaring the Parliament illegitimate but from the same forum, he contested the Presidential Election.
The minister also urged the opposition to stay away from mass gatherings in view of the spike in COVID Cases. He said that the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia have called off their flight operation and in view of the pandemic, it is suggested that Pakistan should also stop its flights to and from London.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed the belief that the opposition’s alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will participate in the Senate Elections as the Parliament is the right forum to resolve issues.
To a question, the minister said that a befitting response will be given to India if it goes for any misadventure. He said that Pakistan wants peace but it will never compromise on its sovereignty.
