KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed three terrorists in a suspected encounter on Thursday, a day after federal government announced to give police and Rangers especial powers to conduct targeted operations in the violence-torn Karachi.
Incharge CID Chaudhry Aslam said that an encounter took place in city’s Maripur locality where outlaws opened fire on police patrolling party.
In retaliatory fire by police, he said, three attackers were injured and taken to civil hospital where they pronounced dead.
Aslam claimed that the criminals were associated with a banned outfit.
Meanwhile, paramilitary Rangers conducted raids in various areas and arrested 11 suspects.
