KARACHI: At least nine persons were killed while more than fifteen others, including a senior judge, three policemen, were injured in a blast at Shahrah-e-Liaquat near Burns Road area of the city on Wednesday.
According to police sources‚ terrorists targeted the vehicle of senior Judge of Sindh High Court Justice Maqbool Baqar with a remote controlled bomb at 8.22am this morning. He was shifted to a hospital where doctors said that his condition was out of danger.
The victims included six policemen and a Rangers man. Eight kilogram bomb was used in the attack.
The injured people were shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment.
The blast took place outside a street of Urdu Bazar leading towards a court.
Police cordoned off the area while rescue teams arrived at the scene.
‘The bomb was planted in a motorcycle’ said Additional I.G Ghulam Qadir Thebo.
A police mobile and a motorcycle have been completely destroyed while some buildings have also been damaged in the blast.
Tension prevailed in the area after the blast.
