ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 3,990 terrorism incidents have occurred across the Country since 2015 resulting in 3,384 martyrdom and 8,436 injuries, as per the data compiled by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
The data was shared by the Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmed Shah with the Senate on Friday in response to a question by Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar.
As per the data compiled from January 1, 2015 to September 13, 2020, in total 3,990 terrorist incidents took place in Pakistan during the said period including 1,435 in Balochistan, 1,048 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 892 in erstwhile FATA, 371 in Sindh, 180 in Punjab, 25 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 23 in Azad Kashmir, and 16 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
Those 3,384 martyred in terrorist acts included 1,457 Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) personnel and 1,927 Civilians.
In addition to fatalities, the terrorist acts from January 1, 2015 to September 13, 2020 also caused injuries to 8,436 persons including 2,569 LEAs personnel and 5,867 Civilians.
The data also provided the year and province-wise break-up of terrorist acts in Pakistan during the period, according to which, 1,139 incidents occurred in 2015, 785 in 2016, 741 in 2017, 584 in 2018, 482 in 2019, and 259 in 2020.
The data says that 838 persons embraced martyrdom and 1,706 were injured in 2015, 808 persons were martyred and 1,914 were injured in 2016, and 668 persons were martyred and 2,153 in 2017.
Similarly, 2018 witnessed the martyrdom of 517 persons and 1,256 injuries, 2019 witnessed the martyrdom of 375 persons and 963 injuries, and 2020 witnessed the martyrdom of 175 persons and 446 injuries.
