ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education and Energy Atif Khan has said that 53 small dams have been completed to provide cheap electricity to the local people within next few months.
Talking to a private news channel, Atif Khan said that the provincial government has decided that more small river run power projects will be constructed out of planned 356 dams.
The minister said that the KPK Energy Development Board has also planned 21 mega projects to produce 3,631 megawatt electricity. He said that these projects will cost Rs 120 billion.
He said that that KPK government do not have enough resources to make funding for these projects and it will try to bring private investment.
The minister said that the KPK government has added 57 megawatt electricity to the national grid. He said that that incumbent provincial government has also completed projects of the previous government.
