ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 216,015 people were administered the COVID-19 vaccine across Pakistan on May 23, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Till now, a total of 5,574,823 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the Citizens across the Country.

Earlier on May 23, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying 2 million doses of Sinovac vaccine – purchased from China – reached Pakistan.

With the arrival of the consignment, a total of 11 million vaccines have been received by Pakistan.

Meanwhile, 3,060 more people tested positive and 57 people lost their lives to Coronavirus in the last 24 hours across the Country.

In the last 24 hours, 58,670 tests were conducted to ascertain the virus across the Country and the positivity ratio remained 5.21 percent.

In total, the Country has so far recorded 903,599 Coronavirus Cases, 20,308 deaths, and 820,374 recoveries.

The Ministry of National Health Services has said that the first batch of China’s single-dose CanSino COVID-19 vaccine would be available for administration to the citizens by the end of May 2021 after thorough rigorous quality control checks.

In a statement, an Official of the Ministry sad that the first batch of bulk CanSino vaccine is being processed at the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) plant, which was set up for the purpose last month, and a specially trained team is working on it.

The Official said that due to the agreement on the technology transfer, the NIH would be able to produce 3 million doses per month which would significantly reduce the Country’s dependence on other Countries.
