BEIRUT: Syrian army on Wednesday killed at least 62 rebel fighters in an ambush near the town of Adra, east of Damascus, the pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
According to the state news agency SANA, all the rebels, from the al Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front, were killed and machineguns and rocket-propelled grenades confiscated.
It said the terrorists included non-Syrians while the Observatory said that eight rebels were still unaccounted for after the attack, which happened west of an industrial area east of Adra.
