ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total of 6614 students have been sent abroad on scholarships by Higher Education Commission (HEC) during the period from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2015.
The total expenditure of the scholarships was Rs 9969.198 million, official sources informed.
A total of 63 students out of them did not come back so far whereas an expenditure of Rs 283.316 million has been incurred thereupon, sources told APP.
They said the National Scholarship Management Committee (NSMC) constituted by the Executive Council of National Economic Council (ECNEC), Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan has approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) to deal with problematic scholarship cases.
