ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The 6th Asia Europe Cultural Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM) is being held from October 19 to 21 in Rotterdam, the second-largest city in the Netherlands.
The theme of the three-day meeting is “creative industries for society: talent, technology and trade.”
The ASEM culture ministers will use this 6th meeting to exchange experiences and discuss the benefits and challenges of creative industries.
The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rasheed has left for Netherlands on a three-day official visit to attend the 6th ASEM culture ministers’ meeting.
In a statement on the occasion, Rasheed said that culture is the identity of a nation.
The information minister said that art, culture and creativity should principally focus on the contribution it makes to the national economy. He said that culture is the priority area of the government as it leads to the harmony, peace and brotherhood among the nations.
The minister expressed his hope that the event will not only help in projecting the true image and cultural traits of Pakistan but would also provide an opportunity to explore the avenues of cooperation in the field of culture and heritage among the participating countries.
