ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Almost 72,964 youth completed training successfully under Prime Minister’s youth programme so far in three phase including 24,834 in phase I, 24,459 in phase II and 23,671 in Batch-I of phase III.

25,252 youngsters under batch-II of phase-III would soon be passed out after completing their skill courses, official sources told the state-run news agency in Islamabad.

They informed that 3675 persons among the trained youth hailed from federal capital, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while 36939 from Punjab, 17201 from Sindh, 9717 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA and 5359 from Baluchistan.

The incumbent government demonstrated keen interest in the empowerment of youth in the country, and under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program initially focused to produce 25,000 Pakistani skilled Workforce/manpower each year commensurate to the needs of local and International market.

The initiative was aimed to create competent, motivated, entrepreneurial, adaptable, creative and well trained/skilled workforce for local and international market.

It was focused on better earning and livelihood will abstain the diversion of mindset of the young generation towards the negative activities.

The programme would also help for contribution towards poverty reduction, social and economic developments through facilitating demand driven, high quality technical and vocational training.

It ensures provision of an equal access of training for women all across the country, empowering them to utilize their acquired hand-on skill to meet up their household expenditures through entrepreneurship.

The deprived segments of society i.e. Orphans, widows, unemployed, less educated, minorities and senior-age persons (up-to 40 years) were prioritized for the training courses for their economic empowerment, making them an important pillar of the economy of country, they further said.
