ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) alone has managed 477 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which eight precious lives were lost and 376 victims were seriously injured whereas 173 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.
These 477 accidents affected 106 pedestrians; 230 passengers and 226 drivers. Some 134 RTAs took place in Lahore placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 43 in Faisalabad, 33 in Gujranwala,22 in Bahawalpur and 22 in Sialkot.
According to the statistics collected by Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 557 RTA’s victims, 452 were males and 99 females, while age group of the victims show that 88 were under 18 year of age, 322 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 139 victims were reported above 40 years. The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included motorbikes, auto rickshaws, motor cars, tractors, passenger buses, trucks, slow moving vehicles and other types of auto
vehicles.
