QUETTA, Pakistan: At least 11 people lost their lives while 17Â others including two children sustained injuries when a blast took place on Saryab road in Quetta on Monday night.
The security officials said that the blast occurred in a passenger bus which was carrying mostly local people.
Meanwhile, the security personal rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area.
The bomb disposal squad also arrived at the area and began collecting evidence to ascertain the nature of the explosion.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Abdul Waheed Khattak said that the blast was caused by a time device, adding that the explosive material weighing 5 to 6 kilograms was planted on the roof of the bus.
The dead bodies and injured people were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital Quetta where according to sources, several injured were in critical condition. An emergency was imposed in all government hospitals following the blast.
In a statement, the Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the Quetta blast and said that they will ensure the implementation of further measures for protection of peoples’ lives and property.
Sarfaraz Bugti also reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to continue the war against terrorism till this menace is completely eradicated from the country.
