ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the PTI’s intra-party polls would be completed by March 15 and 80,000 elected office-bearers of the PTI would gather at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 23 to take oath, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Wednesday.
“A positive change in taking place and the people from working class are being elected in PTI’s polls. These people can help bring about a change in the country and PTI workers have elected the people from working classes,” Imran khan said while talking in a private TV channels’ talk show.
“Look at Humayon Chaha who is a hard working man from the working class who has been elected district president of Kohat. Likewise, many office bearers have been elected from working class in PTI polls. First political parties should bring change in their own party as it is the only way to bring change in the country,” PTI chief said.
Imran khan said that all the political parties should bring democracy in their parties, as they do not know the real mean of democracy, adding that none other party than PTI have courage to hold intra party elections.
Responding to a question, Imran Khan said that the PTI was consulting with all political forces which had no representation in the incumbent assemblies but no alliance had been made yet by the PTI with any political force including the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT). He added that the PTI would soon hold negotiations with the political leaders including Pir Pagara, Ayaz Latif Paleejo and also with leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).
About the PTI’s reservations against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) performance, Imran Khan said that it has been clearly mentioned in 1973 constitution that the ECP should be neutral but the members of the incumbent ECP were not impartial. He said that Tahirul Qadri wanted to dissolve assemblies through long march but PTI wants to bring change through constitutional means.
“We have conveyed our reservations to the ECP with evidences but they paid no heed towards our reservations,” said Imran Khan. He said that PTI wants free, fair and impartial elections as the upcoming elections are very crucial for the country.
PTI chief said that Asma Jahangir had claimed at many occasions that PTI had support of establishment, which is a major allegation,” said Imran, adding that the caretaker Prime Minister should be a neutral person. “I will quit the politics if Asma give any proof that establishment has supported my party,” said PTI chief.
“If both the PPP and PML-N want to conspire against PTI, they can do so, but our only demand is that the ECP should be neutral,” Imran said. He said that there should be a proper consultation on the name of caretaker PM and all the political parties should be taken on board regarding this issue.
Raising his concern over the misuse of public funds by PML-N and PPP governments for their political campaigns, Imran Khan said that the Rapid Bus Service in Lahore has been started with public funds, so why PML-N wanted to take credit of it.
Imran Khan said that PTI will bring an end to traditional politics. He said that corruption and tax evasion are two core issues in the country which should be resolved at ones.
“We cannot make alliances with any such party which cannot take action against corruption and tax evasion,” said Imran. Our popularity graph will be up soon, he added.
