QUETTA, Pakistan: At least nine militants including a commander were killed and two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred in security operations carried out in Turbat and Kalat areas of Balochistan on Wednesday.
In the search operation which was conducted by FC teams in Balnagoor area of Turbat following intelligence information about the presence of militants, at least eight militants were killed while two FC men were martyred.
“An exchange of fire took place between the militants and FC personnel in Balnagoor area of Turbat,” a FC spokesman said, adding that the gun battle resulted in the deaths of eight militants and two FC personnel. He said that the bodies were shifted to hospital.
The spokesman said that the area has been cleared of militants. He further said that the FC launched the search operation in the area after armed men abducted some activists of political parties.
Separately, a militants’ commander was killed in an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in Bencha Sorab area of Kalat district,
Talking to media, the FC spokesman said that following intelligence information about the presence of militants in Bencha Sorab area in Kalat district, FC teams launched an operation where exchange of fire took place between the FC personnel and the militants.
“A commander of a banned militant organization has been killed in the gun battle,” he said.
The spokesman added that the dead militant was commander of banned organization, Baloch Liberation Front (BLF). He said that a sizeable cache of weapons were also recovered from the site.
