ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking all possible measures to overcome dengue fever and comprehensive steps have been taken to root out disease completely from the Federal Capital.
In this context, a meeting on Monday was held here at CDA Headquarters to review the steps taken by the Authority to overcome the dengue in city during current year.
Director Health Services of CDA informed the meeting that Health Services Directorate had started preventive measures to cope with dengue threat right from the February this year, as result of which dengue cases reported in Islamabad were nominal as compared to the other cities.
He apprised that special teams were constituted in this regard which carried out inspection/visits at 21513 places up till now and collected 16743 samples to detect the presence of dengue larva, however first sample of dengue larva was found positive in July which was collected from a shop situated at Shaheen Market Sector I-10.
The meeting was further informed that anti-mosquito spray was carried out at 2880 potential breeding sites while fogging activity was done at 2550 places.
The meeting was further apprised that teams of environment wing also channelized different streams and nullahs flowing in Islamabad to maintain smooth water flow.
Chairman CDA was further informed that Authority’s comprehensive anti-dengue campaign was also underway, under this campaign more than 20000 awareness pamphlets were distributed among the residents while 500 awareness banners had also been installed at different prominent places in the city.
On this occasion, Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ahmed Ali while directing concerned formations said that we must remain vigilant to cope with dengue irrespective of the seasons.
He said that the owners of shops, bakeries, restaurants, tyre shops had been directed to take all preventive measures against the virus otherwise stern action would be taken against them without any discrimination under the Municipal Bylaws.
