PoliticsLB polls results were as per expectations: PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar

FAISALABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said on Tuesday that results of local bodies elections in the first phase in Punjab were as per their expectations.

Addressing a press conference here, he said his party was making preparation for the next general elections and claimed that it would clean sweep in the elections.

He said the PTI would field its candidates for the chairmanship of district council, city councils and mayorship and would not allow the PML-N to walk over.

Chaudhry Sarwar said PTI would also review its performance in the local bodies elections and adopt a strategy to overcome all shortcomings to contest the elections in the second phase of LB polls.

The first phase of local bodies elections was held in 12 district of Punjab and 8 districts of Sindh on October 31.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was given mandate of 1,190 seats of chairmen, vice chairmen and wards of municipal committees in Punjab, according to the latest unofficial results.

The independent candidates emerged as second with 1,065 seats followed by PTI with 285 seats.

In Sindh, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) emerged victorious winning 720 seats followed by independent candidates who won 174 seats while the PTI grabbed only five seats.
