ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Japanese drummers featuring Wadaiko drums, folk dancers and singers will entertain the fun lovers of federal capital here on November 14.

Attired in traditional vibrant costumes, they will present folk dances, songs and other cultural performances while the children of Islamabad Japanese School will present dance show.

The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan in collaboration with Islamabad Japanese School, JICA, Pakistan Japan Cultural Association and MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan has arranged the event to introduce the colourful traditional performing arts of Japan in Pakistan.

Wadaiko are the Japanese musical instruments that sound like rumbling thunder and mostly used in powerful and dramatic stage performances, filling listeners with excitement.

Wadaiko are traditional Japanese drums used to perform at festivals and other events, infusing them with energy and listeners with excitement.

The Japanese Wadaiko performances with other instruments include various genres like classic and jazz music while they have a long history that is closely connected with Japanese history.

In ancient Japan, they were used at festivals to offer prayers.

Wadaiko as an art continues to evolve, transcending its place in Japanese traditional performing arts and being performed in a variety of musical arrangements ranging from orchestras to rock concerts.
