LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab government is providing a subsidy of Rs 1.1836 billion on agriculture implements to be distributed among farmers all over the Punjab.
This was informed by Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed while talking to media in an inaugurating ceremony after inauguration of the balloting process of distribution of agriculture implements among farmers across the province held at Agriculture House here on Thursday.
The minister said the government would provide 50 percent subsidy on Disk Harrow, Rotovator, Seed Cum Fertilizer Drill, Chisel Plough and Sugarcane Ridger.
He said by providing subsidized agricultural equipments to farmers, mechanized cultivation and production could be boosted.
Dr Farrukh Javed said farmers having six acres of agricultural land and their own tractor were eligible to apply in the programme for which applications had been received till December 7.
He said wining farmers would be bound not to sell or transfer the equipment for two years under this programme.
He was accompanied by Member Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Gulzar, Director General Agriculture Extension Dr Anjum Ali, Assistant Commissioner Model Town Rao Imtiaz and a large number of farmer’s representatives.
