PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Chairman Hamza Foundation and Welfare Hospital and Free Blood Transfusion Services Ijaz Ali Khan on Monday said the cases of Thalassemia in children have increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) where the figure has crossed 35,000.

He said it needs an immediate attention to control the disease with pragmatic measures.

Presiding over a meeting of the foundation, he said that Hamza Foundation is providing free of cost blood transfusion services to over 1,300 poor and destitute patients of Thalassemia from KPK and FATA with the help of philanthropists and the provincial government.

He further said that the Welfare Hospital provide free of cost meal to parents of Thalassemia patients at hospital, adding that Hamza Foundation has expedited campaign against Thalassemia in KPK and FATA in collaboration with KPK government.
