ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Most Parts of the country on Thursday plunged into darkness including the Parliament House as a key transmission line tripped.
The sources said that a technical fault occurred in Guddo Power Station after which most parts of the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Jhelum, Attock, Peshawar, Multan and Lahore were left without electricity.
They said that tripping of the transmission line also caused the suspension of power supply to important institutions and buildings including the Parliament House in Islamabad.
In addition, they said that due to technical fault, Tarbela, Mangla and Ghazi Brotha Power States also tripped.
They said that transformer P3 OF 500 KV grid station in Guddu Tharmal Power House caught fire.
Meanwhile, the Federal Minister for Water and Power told the National Assembly that a power breakdown has occurred, adding that technical experts are trying to restore the electricity.
Earlier on January 15, almost 70 per cent of the country including parts of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were left without electricity due to the tripping of Mangla Power House.
The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) sources told that the breakdown occurred due to a technical fault.
