IranIran launches monkey into space

TEHRAN: Iran has successfully sent a live monkey into space, Iranian state TV said on Monday, describing it an advancement in country’s missile and space program.

According to reports, the monkey was sent up on a Kavoshgar rocket to a height of more than 120 km (75 miles). No further details came about the launching location and timing, however, it was said that the monkey was retrieved alive.

Western powers are concerned that the long-range ballistic technology used to propel Iranian satellites into orbit could be used to launch nuclear warheads.

While Tehran denies such suggestions and says its nuclear activity is for peaceful energy only.
