KARACHI, Pakistan: The nexus of Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been busted in Karachi, Director General of Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Lt. General Asim Bajwa said here Friday.

Briefing media person he said that the Hyderabad jail break plan has also been foiled. The law enforcement agencies would continue their efforts till the restoration of complete peace in Karachi, he added.

`It is a commitment of the Army Chief and Army with the Karachiites to fully restore the status of the metropolis as the city of lights’.

Bajwa also spoke about the effects of the Karachi Operation which, he said, has resulted in a significant decline in acts of terror- 69 percent reduction in target killings, 85 percent decline in extortion and 90 percent decline in kidnapping for ransom.

During the briefing he also pointed out that the Al-Qaeda, LeJ and TTP network busted in Karachi that were jointly engaged in terrorist activities.

Naeem Bukhari, Ameer LeJ Karachi, Mussanna, Naib Ameer Al Qaeda Sindh and Munna, were also presented before the media and maps recovered were also shown.

It was also pointed out that 94 hardcore terrorists were apprehended including 26 with head money.

The busted network was involved in major terror attacks on Manawa Police Centre, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Headquarter Lahore/Multan and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) building in 2009, attacks on Mehran Naval Base and Naval buses in 2011, Kamra Airbase attack in 2012, attack on ISI headquarter Sukkur in 2013, attack on Karachi Airport, attempt on Karachi Jail and assassination of Choudhry Aslam in 2014.

The Hyderabad Jail break plan was 90 percent complete but the attempt was foiled with the arrest of the accused.

The ISPR chief further pointed out that Hyderabad Jail break plan was aimed at securing the release of Khalid Umer Shaikh, convict in Daniel Pearl murder case, Shahzah Ahmed, convict in Corps Commander attack case, besides the killings of 35 inmates and release of over 100 inmates.

He also appealed to the people to keep an eye on their surroundings and report to the LEAs any unusual activities.
