Intelligence agencies foiled possible terror attack on President Mamnoon Hussain

President Mamnoon seeks exemplary punishment for influential corrupt figures

Islamabad, Pakistan: Intelligence agencies have foiled a bid of terror attack on the life of President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, claim sources.

According to sources, two drivers of motorcade of President Mamnoon Hussain have been arrested and shifted to unknown destination for further interrogation. Sources claim that both drivers belong to Lahore Police force. More information are being gathered about other members of personal staff of President Mamnoon Hussain.

According to sources terror attempt on President Mamnoon Hussain has been foiled as intelligence agencies got information that someone in the staff of President Mamnoon Hussain had links with banned religious outfit. Intelligence agencies after gathering these information started their work and two suspects were arrested when both were found driving in dubious manner during visit of President to Lahore.

“We can not share more information but there are credible information that arrested drivers had contacts with a banned religious outfit and anything can be shared once interrogation is done. A joint interrogation team is conducting interrogation. Intelligence agencies believe that infringement in personal security and entrance of suspects into Presidential staff is a very serious and delegate issue”, said one official with the condition of keeping his name in anonymity.

It may be mentioned that Mamnoon Hussain is serving Pakistan as its President since 9 September 2013.

During the indirect presidential elections held in 2013, Mamnoon Hussain received 432 votes from the Electoral College out of 704 votes, during which, his competitor Wajihuddin Ahmed of PTI received 77 votes.
