Rawalpindi: It has been reported that  Mumtaz Qadri, the Punjab police commando who was being convicted for killing ex Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer has been hanged to death in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

According to court reports,  Mumtaz Qadri had already filed a mercy plea before President Mamnoon Hussain while Supreme Court maintained his conviction in 2015. Rumors were being out earlier today as his supporters started Twitter trend to call for an Anti State protest against Qadri’s expected hanging.

So far it has been confirmed that the protests have been erupted in different cities of Punjab and Sindh, more specifically Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore after the announcement by leaders of the movement to free Mumtaz Qadri.

The security has been beefed up in the whole country to deal with any unexpected situation and Punjab police is on high alert as the Supporters of Mumtaz Qadri have already blocked Shahdra Chowk in Lahore to protest his execution. In Rawalpindi, the police was put on a highalert earlier in the night. “We have orders to strictly monitor the activities following the execution of Mumtaz Qadri,” a source informed a private newspaper.

Update: Security has been doubled on Mall Road of lahore and in front of Punjab Assembly.

Meanwhile, in a statement in Karachi that Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said that protest on execution of Mumtaz Qadri is unjustified, adding that everyone should respect the verdicts of the court.

The minister said that we should learn lesson from our mistakes.

“We have to give peace and tranquility to Pakistan,” he said that. He added that we are proud to support people who are protecting women.
