ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate on Friday rejected the bill to provide for setting up the Pakistan International Airlines Corporation into a public limited company [The Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (Conversion) Bill, 2015] with majority votes.

Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid moved the bill in the house on behalf of Minister for State and Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed.

Deputy Chairman Abdul Ghafoor Haideri put the motion to the house for approval but it was rejected with majority of votes.

Meanwhile, responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Tanvir Ahmed, Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid said he would convey suggestions given by the senator to the minister for capital administration and development division. He said the CAAD minister would visit the areas to issue on spot order for cleaning of drains/nulahs before the upcoming raining season.

Later the House was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 3:00 pm.
