LAHORE, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday directed to launch an operation in South Punjab, a day after a suicide bomber allegedly from Muzaffargarh attached the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore.

His remarks came while presiding over a meeting attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Punjab Home Secretary Azam Suleman among other high level officials in Lahore on Monday, and which reviewed Lahore terror attack and overall strategy against the terrorists.

The meeting was briefed by heads of law enforcement and intelligence agencies on different leads based progress regarding Lahore attack.

On Sunday evening, at least 72 people including 7 women, 25 children and 14 Christians were killed while more than 300 sustained injuries in the suicide blast in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park.

During the meeting, the prime minister called for more proactive coordination amongst law enforcement and intelligence agencies to defeat the sordid designs of terrorists.

Sharif said that the provinces should also speed up intelligence-based operations against terrorists.

“We must take this war to the doors of terrorist outfits before they are able to hit our innocent country men,” he said.

The prime minister said that winning the war on terror is imperative for us. He said that our resolve is getting stronger against terrorism and coward enemy is hitting soft targets in utter desperation.

“Our goal is not only to eliminate terror infrastructure but also the extremist mindset which is threat to our way of life,” Sharif said.

Nawaz Sharif said that the terrorists have assassinated our kids, sons and daughters in this war and In Shah Allah, we will wipe them out from the country.

Five including blast suspect’s three brothers arrested from Muzaffargarh

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police reached village Fateh Sarani in Muzaffargarh and arrested three brothers of Yousuf who was alleged to be the suicide bomber in Lahore blast.

The police cordoned off the village and probed relatives and other villagers about the activities of suspect Yousuf.

The sources informed that the suspect had seven brothers and three sisters.
