ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Syed Abrar Hussain on Thursday reiterated his country’s resolve to continue efforts for the promotion of education in Afghanistan.

He stated this while addressing the send-off ceremony, organized for Afghan students, in the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul, according to a message received here from Kabul.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador said that Pakistan had been offering fully funded scholarship, under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Afghan Students since 2009.

He informed the participants that more than 600 Afghan students had been selected this year, who would proceed to Pakistan in the last week of current month.

The Ambassador congratulated the successful students and urged them to concentrate upon their studies during their stay in Pakistan and, subsequently, play a positive role in the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan.

He also highlighted the contribution made by Pakistan for development and strengthening of education infrastructure in Afghanistan, particularly the construction of Liaqat Ali Khan Engineering University, Balkh, Sir Syed Post Graduate Faculty of Sciences, Nangarhar University, Allama Iqbal Faculty of Arts, Kabul University, Rahman Baba School, Kabul and Rahman Baba Hostel in Kabul.

Ambassador Hussain apprised the participants that more than 35,000 Afghans had graduated from Pakistan over the past three decades and now they were playing active role in the development of their country.
