RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Defence Minister of Maldives Adam Shareef Umar on Tuesday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi and discussed issues of mutual interest including regional security and defence cooperation.
In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Maldives defence minister appreciated the successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Pakistani security forces.
Earlier on arrival at the army’s general headquarters, the visiting dignitary laid wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to him.
The Chief of General Staff Czech Republic Armed Forces General Josef Becvar also called on the COAS on Tuesday and held a discussion regarding matters of mutual interest including regional security situation and measures to enhance defense cooperation between Pakistan and Czech Republic.
