ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and the Maldivian Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar on Thursday expressed satisfaction at the overall trajectory of Pak-Maldives relations and reaffirmed their resolve for further strengthening these ties.

The two dignitaries met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday during which they covered issues related to bilateral relations and mutual interest in their discussion.

The adviser said that Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with the Maldives which are characterized by cordiality, mutual respect and commonality of interest.

Sartaj Aziz expressed his hope that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Maldives in July 2016 on the occasion of the National Day of Maldives, will help provide further impetus to the bilateral relations.

The Maldivian defence minister in his remarks thanked the government of Pakistan for the warm hospitality extended to him and reciprocated the warm sentiments on cordial bilateral relations in defence and other fields.
