ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Eleven Pakistani businesses have attended the 68th American association for clinical chemistry annual scientific meeting and clinical lab expo in Pennsylvania.

At the Expo, the delegation learned about the latest healthcare technology and attended sessions on topics ranging from infectious diseases to developments in clinical lab testing.

The program provided Pakistani and American business people an opportunity to get acquainted with new market opportunities and explore ways to build business-to-business connections between the two countries, says a fax message received here from the US on Friday.

“An important focus of our work in the US Embassy in Islamabad is building connections between Pakistani and American businesses in order to increase trade between our two countries,” said Cheryl Dukelow, Commercial Counselor at the US Embassy in Islamabad.

Each year the US Commercial Service recruits and leads 150 to 200 members of Pakistan’s business community to trade shows in the United States as part of the International Buyer’s Program.

This year the commercial service has led Pakistani delegations to US trade shows focusing on consumer electronics, poultry and processing equipment, restaurants, construction, natural homeopathic products, smart grid technology, and electricity transmission, distribution, and technology.

Upcoming programs will include the international woodworking fair, the farm progress show, and solar power international. These trade shows are an essential part of the continued US commitment to increase economic growth and stability in Pakistan.
