ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar reiterated that soon Pakistan would be counted in polio free countries.
Talking to a Private news channel, she said that government has overcome polio virus to a great extent and efforts of Pakistan are being acknowledged at international level.
She further said the federal government, armed forces and civil society stand united in the country’s fight against polio.
Saira Afzal urged the need of co-opting religious scholars, local khateebs, parliamentarians, and media for sensitizing the masses about the usefulness of polio vaccination.
She appreciated the role of the federal and provincial governments as well as partners in this regard and termed decreasing ratio of polio virus in 2016 as the top most priority of the ministry.
She said that the federal government and the provincial governments have devised a plan to create awareness about the disease up to union council level.
