ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Interior on Friday forwarded a letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend cellular services in Islamabad on the occasion of Independence Day.
Sources said that the mobile phone service will remain suspended for six hours from 6:00 am till 12:00 pm on Sunday (August 14) as the part of security measures for Independence Day celebrations planned in the Federal Capital.
The District Administration of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) had earlier recommended Interior Ministry to suspend the mobile networks on the Independence Day between 0600 hours to 1200 hours.
Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Sajid Kiani has chalked out a comprehensive plan on the occasion of Independence Day and decided to deploy security personnel at important installations as well as the public places too.
The police source said that as per plan, 2500 cops would perform security duties on the occasion and the City has been divided into various beats while additional strength has been deployed at main shopping centers at markets.
