ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to make every effort to facilitate the business community including exporters.
While presiding over a meeting at the Finance Division in Islamabad with the FBR authorities to review the process for sales tax refunds promised in budget 2016, Dar expressed the hope that finalization of sales tax refunds would help in increasing the business activity in the country.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar and the FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan discussed with the minister the current position of the sales tax refunds and their breakup in different sectors.
It was decided that those claims in respect of which refund payment orders (RPO) had been issued till April 30, 2016 would be finalized by August 23, 2016. Claims where RPOs were issued up to June 30, 2016 would be considered and finalized later.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of FBR and the ministry of finance.
