ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif held a meeting at the PM House in Islamabad on Friday and discussed internal and regional security.
“Vowing to continue the war against militancy and terrorism, the prime minister expressed his satisfaction over the security situation in the country,” said a statement issued by the PM House.
The meeting took place a day before the prime minster is set to leave for the United States to attend the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The prime minister will address the UN body on September 21 at which he will highlight the issue of Kashmir dispute and recent brutalities of Indian troops in the held valley apart from other important issues.
During his stay in the US, the prime minister is also scheduled to meet Secretary of State John Kerry and head of different countries on the sidelines of the UN general assembly session.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif will visit Muzaffarabad today to meet the Kashmiri leaders before departing for the US.
