Islamabad: Pakistan’s top court has accepted a treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Taufiq Asif, president of the Rawalpindi high court bar association, said that the Supreme Court will begin hearing the case on April 8. He said he has requested the SC to try Musharraf for sedition because he imposed emergency rule in 2007. He said that a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will hear the case.

Musharraf returned to Pakistan on March 24 following four years of self-imposed exile.He is running in the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 11. He is already facing many court cases for his alleged involvement in the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the 2006 killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti, a senior Baloch politician.
