MULTAN, Pakistan: The Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood said that public sector schools showed good performance this year.

Talking to the media at Moon Light Girl School in Multan, he said that all possible measures were being taken to improve infrastructure in public schools of the province. It was first time in the history that government schools performed very well, he said.

“We are recruiting 70,000 teachers annually in schools, he said and added that minimum strength of teachers in a primary school would be four.”

He said the Punjab government enhanced budget for education sector.

He said the government was setting up water filtration plants in schools in order to provide clean drinking water to students and people.

In district Multan, he said that filtration plants would be installed in 100 schools. Per month scholarship to girl students has also been enhanced to Rs 1000 from Rs 200, in 16 districts of the province, he said.

Similarly, the minister said that 30,000 additional classrooms were also being constructed in schools of the province.

To a query about future of Pak-Turk Schools, the minister said that the future of students of these schools would be made safe and secure.

Responding to a question related to Indian Aggression, the provincial minister said that India was violating international agreements, adding that international organizations would lose their credibility in case India violates Indus Water Treaty.
