Government of PakistanPakistan forces capable enough to face any aggression: Asif

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said Pakistan’s valiant armed forces were capable enough to face any threat from India.

“Our armed forces have rendered supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism and are always ready to protect and defend the country’s sovereignty and integrity,” he said while talking to a private news channel.

The minister said the armed forces had conducted a war exercise to prepare themselves to counter any untoward situation. They were ready for any battle and would counter any aggression to its sovereignty, he added.

He said if India tried to do any misadventure, it would have to face dire consequences. Pakistan had strong technical devices and tactical weapons that would be used for the defence of the motherland, he added. Moreover, the whole nation from Karachi to Gilgit was united against India, he said.

He said India was involved in terror attacks inside Pakistan and was also supporting terrorists, including Brahumdagh Bugti, who carried an Afghan passport in the name of Ibrahim with Indian visa.

He said the Uri attack was staged by India itself to divert attention from Indian atrocities and barbarism against the innocent Kashmiris in the occupied valley.

The minister said after death of Burhan Wani, Kashmir movement had taken a new turn and people of Kashmir were committed to take it to its logical conclusion.

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Raiwind march was not in the national interest as the country was facing threats from India.

He said PTI chief Imran Khan was holding protest demonstration to achieve his nefarious goals. PTI sit-in at D-Chowk had delayed the national project China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

There were no threats to the PML-N government from PTI protest and it would be a flop show like others in the past, he added.

He said Imran Khan had used derogatory language against his political opponents and the national institutions.

Commenting on Panama papers issue, he said in his view, it was not a big issue.

To another query, he said Altaf Hussain had some connections with India as he had asserted during his visit to India.

Pervez Musharraf had not taken any action against Altaf, he added.

He said it was a good thing that Pakistan Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had disassociated itself from UK MQM.
