RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Two Pakistani soldiers embraced Shahadat in an exchange of fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the exchange of fire took place on the LoC in Bhimber, hotspring, kel and Lipa sectors.

“Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing on loc in Bhimber, hotspring, kel, and Lipa sectors,” the ISPR said.

The exchange of fire began at 02:30 am after midnight and continued till 08:00 am on Thursday, the ISPR added.

It comes as the ties between the two nuclear-armed neighboring countries have further been deteriorated following September 8 attack on an Indian army military base in Uri area of Occupied Kashmir.

On Tuesday, the Indian government announced to pull out of upcoming SAARC Summit in Islamabad, saying amid terrorist attacks, the environment is not conducive to the successful holding of the SAARC summit.

PM Nawaz condemns unprovoked firing by Indian troops along LoC

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the “unprovoked and naked aggression” of Indian forces resulting in martyrdom of two Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC).

The prime minister paid rich tributes to the martyred jawans and said that “our intent for peaceful neighbourhood should not be mistaken as our weakness.”

Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s valiant forces were fully capable of defending the territorial integrity of country and can thwart any evil design made to undermine the sovereignty of Pakistan.
